When i watch a video on line why does it stop and start?

Stop other machines on the network from downloading or P2P sharing while watching movies online.

BECAUSE IT HASN'T LOADED YET. PAUSE THE VIDEO AND WAIT UNTIL IT LOADS SO YOU CAN WATCH IT IN ENTIRETY WITHOUT ANY INTERRUPTIONS FROM STOPPING. OR YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION IS BAD.

This could be because your internet connection is not fast enough and the computer cannot get the information quick enough

does to me as well...on youtube..not all the time .think its just the connection speed going up or down though...but i'm no tech genius.x*x

When you are watching a video online, there is a bar at the bottom of the screen. When it starts to fill up with color(Example. YouTube uses red) this is called buffering. Once it is completely filled with color, the video you are watching won't stop. The video will only stop when you hit a point that hasn't buffered.
