  1. No where in the Big Book of Etiquette does it say that one must "smile" at anyone in pubic when eye contact is made.  It does make the situation lighter, and more pleasant.  Plus...it takes much less muscles to smile than it does to frown or not to.  It also can make you and everyone else around you feel much better.

    Peace & Love  :)

  2. You don't have to smile just because someone makes eye contact with you.

I usually do smile but sometimes I just nod my head at them and continue on my way.

  3. A smile is always nice.

  4. definitely smile. even if u dont mean it. its the polite thing to do.

i mean, you dont have to show all your teeth or anything, just give them a small smile, its a form of acknowledegment. like *yeah, i see you too, now have a good day* thats all it is.

  5. ya, i usually smile, unless im in a bad mood

  6. There is no rule that anyone has to smile when looking at someone else. Some people might be self-conscious or judgmental but that is a reflction of them and not your problem. Don't worry so much about what other people think.

That said, smiling when making eye contact lightens the mood and can be a sign that you wouldn't mind chatting. I do not always smile when I look at people and definitely don't smile when I'm not open to conversation. I do at least nod, though, or say hello, because not acknowledging the person at all is rude.

  7. yes , even if u r angry !
