Okay, before I hear that the only thing to do is PT...I have heard that for good behavior, one might be able to go to an on-base bar and grill. I'm just wondering, even if it's just for graduation weekend, what stuff could one do that I might be looking forward to do? Has anyone had anything other that PT and drills to do there while at Basic?

  1. You will not get to do anything on Ft Jackson while you are attending Basic Training. The only exception to that is graduation where you can go off with your family for a bit. Prior to that, you are in training. Any down time that you do receive will be spend writing letters, cleaning or getting ready for the next day. You do not have free time in Basic.

  2. Ha hahahahahaha... oh boy, hehehehe.. yep, Grad weekend is one thing, other than that... ummm, errrr... yeah.

  3. My friend, my friend...if your platoon wins the banner for APFT or marksmanship, you MAY get to go to the AAFES and get a high and tight...MAYBE! I went to Benning, but in AIT I met a lot of folks from "Relaxin' Jackson." They did get nicotine patches to quit smoking, which would've been nice...

  4. There's a wake up call coming your way

  5. Marching, PT, getting yelled at, shooting, sitting in classes.  Wake up buddy, boot camp is for training, not hanging out on base and "doing things"!!!!!

  6. For good behavior you MIGHT get a phone call home. That's about it.

  7. This is not summer camp....do what you are told to do, any hopefully graduate and get on with your career.  You will have plenty of chances to enjoy yourself when you get done with basic.
