  1. check the DB website...train is your best bet!

  2. Well if you have time between games I would say train, unless you find a friend with a car or if you want to be more mobile a rental but really not necessary since trains and buses go everywhere almost anytime. If you need to catch a game fast in another city further away (like Berlin - Munich) take Lufthansa, they came down with prices and sometimes have specials for in country flights.

  3. By train

  4. Consider that Germany is not a very big country compared to the US. North to south it is about 600 miles and east ot west it is about 400 miles.

Traveling from city to city the train is definitely the best option. Check out the Deutsche Bahn (German railway company) web site below. I'm quite sure that they will operate special trains for fans during the Worldcup. To get from the train station to the stadiums use the public transport. It's usually excellent and often has English announcements and descriptions.

For longer distances, e.g. Hamburg - Munich, flying is also a good option. If you book in advance you can get even better rates than going by train. The biggest airline is Lufthansa, but other airlines such as dba often have better rates.

Also, you could rent a car and drive from city to city. That would give you the chance to see more of the country and go as fast as you like on the Autobahn :-). The biggest car rental company in Germany is called Sixt. The big US car rentals have either partners or subsidiaries in Germany, too. Check out their websites for international bookings.

  5. If you have more than one person my suggestion would be to rent a car....train is easy...but it can get expensive especially if you are making a couple different trips....go to www.bahn.de....it will tell you how much for each train trip you need....and then compare it to renting a car.

  6. you have no choice....train would be your only option...but judging from the local games, the trains will get very backed up with people....do you like being a person sandwich? or you could invest in a bike which is a better choice if you like the excercise. back packing is nice too.
