Regardining Singapore restaurants, I'm confused by the extras I have to pay. There's CESS, there's the service charge and then there's GST. Are they applied separately to the food then added together or is GST applied last on top of everything else?

  1. Yes. For example when you see 3 pluses e.g. $50+++, surcharges are applied in this order

    1. 10% - Service Charge

    2. 5% GST

    3. 1% CESS

  2. The 1% CESS is only for places that are approved as "tourist" places.

  3. Yes, GST is applied on the amount after all the taxes such as service charge and CESS are added in.
