When in the army,Can you go see family members or they have to come to the base.

Or either can't happen.Just want to know info before I join.

When you are in the army, it is just like a regular job. The only difference of the army is that you can be located, sometimes, in parts of the world that the family members are not allowed. But when you are in the states you can go anywhere you want when you are off duty ( weekends and afternoons ). But, while you are in your basic training, they can come and see you only at the end of it in a family day and graduation day. Not a big deal, basic training happens just one time in your military career.

of course you can go see your family members!  its called taking leave.  you get 30 days a year (2 1/2 every month).  you can always save up a few months leave and go see them for a week or two.  and yes, they are allowed to come visit you at your base as well.  you're not a prisoner, lol.  however, during boot camp you won't be allowed to see them, and maybe at tech school.  i do not you're not allowed to take leave during tech school, but your family can come still see you.

During Basic training they cannot come until graduation but after that  you can visit them over long weekends (with a pass). The Army gives lots of 3 and 4 day weekends. (Memorial day, 4th July, Labor day, Christmas, New years, .....)

And you get 30 days vacation a year to go anywhere you want. They also can come visit you at the base.

You can request to leave on the weekend sometimes.....pay all the expenses to see them!

Or you can wait to you have a vaca and go see them.

They are allowed to come see you, make sure you have some free time.
