  1. There is no rule that your horse has to be registered or purebred to do western pleasure. However, if you are competing in a certain association such as AQHA or APHA your horse does have to be registered to that breed association and you do have to be a member.

  2. Not necessarily.  You can't ride in "breed" shows since your horse is not registered but there are plenty of "open" shows out there where you can show an unregistered horse.

  3. That depends on the show.  There are many, many shows designed just for registered Quarter Horses (for example) in which your horse would have to be registered (full-blooded).

However, there are a lot of county fairs that have open classes in which your horse doesn't have to be a registered horse of any kind.

  4. nope not at all, unless you enter breed shows.

  5. If you ride in open shows, any horse may enter.  In breed shows, such as AQHA shows, the horse must be registered.

  6. for western pleasure no it could be any breed mixed or pure. for show yes

  7. If you are showing in Open Shows then no, papers aren't required until it says it's a registered class.

However to show "Breed Shows" (AQHA, APHA, etc) you'd best have your papers handy.

    Best of luck.
