  1. well it would be smarter to replace both since the boot is what keeps the dirt out and the grease in and in most cases is why they fail.. get both... will save you from replacing it again

  2. Well, most of the time it will come with the cv half shaft.  You might just need the inner...Auto Zone usually carries the half shaft with the inner and outer boot kit.  Don't forget to get a transmission seal!  A lot of people don't replace that when they replace their cv axles and it starts to leak...Call a local Auto Zone and they should help you as much as possible...it's their job...mine too :)

  3. while you have it out, it would be wise to replace both boots.make sure you put the grease in the boots.

  4. I always replace the both boots when repacking or replacing the CV Joints. Most vehicle's replacement process requires you to remove the axle from the car and disassemble on the bench. Half the time or more is removing and replacing the axle. I would hait to think of getting one boot done and a week later the other boot needs replacing.

Inner and outer refer to which end of the axle. Inner would be closer to the transmission and outer would be closer to the wheel or wheel bearing.

  5. most rebuilt cv shafts come with the inner an outer boot if you have torn boots you should replace the entire axle as the cv joints have lost all the grease and will soon wear out it is also easier to replace the entire shaft than remove replace the boots and reinstall a rebuilt axle should cost about 40 80 dollars at autozone

  6. Depends which side the axial is on...  For the cost of a boot I would replace both on the non-spider side.

  7. a half shaft should contain the inner cv joint, so you should only need the outer boot kit.

  8. If this is what it sounds like (half shaft being: outer CV joint and axle).  You should only need an inner boot kit (which should include grease for transfer of old inner CV joint to axle).  Make sure you take care transfering inner joint, keep it in proper phase with outer joint.

    Good Luck!
