  1. No, a fuse can limit amperage by "blowing" but cannot increase it.

  2. No.

Replace a fuse only with another of the same amperage and type.

(If you add a new fused switch or cut-out, it will increase the possible

    drain on the main service.)

  3. A fuse is designed to break the circuit when the circuit calls for more current (amperage) than the fuse's rating.  This is a safety device.  Were the fuse not there or of a larger capacity than the wires could handle safely, the wires would overheat and create a fire.  Also, should a short occur, the fuse would fail and shut the circuit to prevent further injury or death or property damage.  The fuse is a safety device.

Never replace a fuse with a larger rated (higher amperage) fuse as this removes the critical safety factor.

Many beleive they can safely increase the fuse amperage to stop fuses from blowing.  In fact they have invalidated their protection.  Often insurance companies will not pay out a fire loss when there was an electrical fire and the fuses were too large for safety.

Finally, if you are not sure of the proper fuse size for your wiring, or if you continually have fuses fail, consult with a licensed electrician for safe resolutions..

  4. NO

  5. No, it is protection for overcurrent flowing through wiring and equipment.

  6. a fuse is an amperage limiter. ifa fuse is marked 15,,then only 15 amps can travel thru the fuse. if the appliance tries to draw morethan 15 amps then the fuse will melt its connection and prevent it.
