When is Christmas stuff available in the shops, in Australia?

As much as I HATE to be thinking about this now, this is our first year in Oz and I will have to send Xmas stuff over to the UK at the end of September for it to be there in time. In the UK the shops stock up on wrapping and cards etc stupidly early, usually mid-September'ish. Can anyone tell me if it's the same in Oz..?
