When is Coyote Season?

i just wanted to know because i got a call and i want to reel some in but i didn't know when its legal to actually kill them.

first off, get a game and wildlife hunting regulation booklet from Wal-mart or your local hunting supply store. this would be the first place i'd look and if it's not in there, try the game warden and see if he can answer this. where i live in Georgia, the season is from February- April. if you live out west, the season is in September-December, but it all depends and varies by state AND the region of the state you live in. for instance, in the upper parts of Georgia, the season is from November-February; in the lower parts it is from August- October.

if you are looking for a gun or already have one, i would go with the .223,  .243,  .270, .22-250, .25-06, and the .280; there is no need for the larger calibers (.30-30, .30-06, etc.)., not only are the smaller calibers going faster and are on a flatter trajectory, but don't cause as much damage to the pelt if you wish to sell them.

You need to check your local game laws.

Here in Kansas it is legal to hunt them year round.  I only hunt them from October 1 until March 31.  They have their pups in May, and in the summer, the fur is not good, and the pups are just too small.

If I have a rancher that absolutely insists I help with problem coyotes, we wait until fall.
