  1. Weird, never heard of it but thanks to the other poster saying the name in Japanese, I searched in Japanese and wikipedia has the dates:

    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%9C%9F%E...

        * 2004å¹´ - 7月21日 8月2日

        * 2005å¹´ - 7月28日

        * 2006å¹´ - 7月23日 8月4日

        * 2007å¹´ - 7月30日

        * 2008å¹´ - 7月24日 8月5日

        * 2009å¹´ - 7月19日 7月31日

        * 2010å¹´ - 7月26日

        * 2011å¹´ - 7月21日 8月2日

    2008 = July 24, August 5

  2. Unagi Day --  "doyo no ushinohi" -- is the Midsummer Day of the Ox, but I can't find anything consistent for the date or day of the month.  In 2003 it was July 27th (4th Monday), in 2005 it was July 28th (fourth Thursday), so I'm guessing that it's astrological in basis.
