Why isn't he already the King? Does his grandmother have to pass away first? Why isn't his father the future king, or is he?

  1. The Prince's grandmother is still on the throne, that's why.  Yes, she'll have to pass away before succession begins, and it looks like she's not in any hurry to do that. She is still healthy, and clear headed.

The Prince's father will then become king.  William after he dies.

  2. I don't think Charles will become King, I'm not positive, my Mom has told me the whole thing before, but now that the information is semi-useful I can't recall it

  3. The queen has to either die or give up the crown.  Her first born would then be King / Queen; Prince Charles in this case, then his first born.  It's always the first born of the next in line.

  4. Both his grandmother and his father have to die (or give up the throne) before William can become king.

  5. actually prince charles williams's dad is the future king but because Queen Elizabeth is blessed with a long life everyone jokes that by the time charles gets the crown charles will already be old too. but both the queen and prince charles would either have to die or pass the crown for william to be king

the line of succession can be found at the attached website

  6. either his grandmother has to pass away first or give up her crown.... same goes for william's dad, prince charles.

  7. If Charles dies before his mother Elizabeth then his brother would be king and William or Harry would probably never be king.

  8. the line of sucsession is as follows

    Prince Charles aged 59

    Prince William aged 25

    Prince Harry aged 23

Prince Andrew (charles brother) aged 47

    Princess Beatrice aged 19

    Princess Eugenie aged 17

Prince Edward (charles brother) aged 43

    Lady Louise Windor aged 4

death of a sucsessor or if they reliquish the throne is when anyone of them will be able to be crowned king or queen

  9. i think his Grandma and his Dad have to pass away or relinquish power to him before he would be King.  I'm not British so my opinion is really heresay.

  10. Prince William is 2nd in line to the throne.  When the Queen passes, Price Charles (the eldest son of the queen) will inherit the throne.  When Charles dies, Prince William (Prince Charles's eldest son) will then inherit the throne.  The queen can, however, bypass Prince Charles and name Prince William king upon her death. Should Prince William die before having a child, or being crowned-- Prince Harry will follow Charles in succession to the throne

  11. Since William's dad, Charles, the Prince of Wales, is Heir Apparent to the Throne, unless he dies before his mother, Queen Elizabeth, does, Charles will be King before William can become King.  Most monarchies determine who will be king by an ancient tradition known as primogeniture, which means that the Queen's oldest son inherits the throne before her oldest grandson.  This way of determining who will be King doesn't consider popularity, character, or personality--only birth order.

Sometimes, if a king or queen has a very long reign, his or her heir doesn't come to the throne until he or she has almost reached retirement age since a king or queen serves for life as shown by the proclamation, "The King is dead; long live the King".  For example, since Queen Victoria (1819-1901) reigned for 63 years, her oldest son did not become king until he was 60.  Edward VII  (1841-1910) reigned for a relatively short time from 1901 to 1910.  Elizabeth is 81, but in good health, and the Queen Mum lived to be over 100, so Charles might not succeed to the throne until he is in his 70s or 80s.

  12. After his granny and his dad die.  Assuming a decent life expectancy for Prince Charles, I imagine we'll see William on the throne sometime around 2030.

  13. The line of succession is this:

HM the Queen > HRH Charles (her son) > HRH William (Charles's son).  The Queen either has to die or abdicate in order for Prince Charles to become kind.  Should he die or abdicate then Prince William becomes king.

  14. The Queen has to die. That's usually how monarchies work unless the monarch abdicates or steps down before they die. I am not sure why Anne or Charles will not succeed but perhaps they had a choice in the matter.
