Question:

When is a UTI detectable?

I went to my OB on Wednesday. On Thursday night I began having symptoms that I believe are caused by a UTI. My genitals have a burning/stinging feeling constantly that is made worse during urination. My doctors did a swab to test for STD's and such, and also did the normal urine tests. Would they have been able to tell on Wednesday if I didn't have symptoms until Thursday? My swab test results will be in tomorrow, but I thought that the test for a UTI was done on the urine. Would they have told me? I never asked because I had no problems until the next day. Since I am pregnant, I am extra worried.

  1. do they burn/sting when you pee? and do you constantly have to go to the bathroom? just wait for the tests tomorrow, and then ask them about the urine sample.

  2. I dont know about the UTI, they should detect an infection from the tests run

but anyway, Ketones are produced when the body breaks down fat for energy. When the body needs to breakdown fat in this way, then ketones will be detected in blood and urine.

You need to eat more carbs - pasta, bread and potatoes etc. this will stop you getting ketones in your urine
