i want to start walking, but to do that i would have to bring my 3 and 1/2 year old with me, but i think she might be too old or too big for a stroller..does anyone know when a child is too old for a stroller, or if there is any other way to bring a child on a walk with you?

  1. i stopped using a stroller for my son when he was 3 or 4 he didn't like the stroller any more i think the child will tell you when he or she doesn't want the stroller any more

  2. take her on the walk she'll prbably enjoy it.

  3. I guess it depends on the size and weight of the child. If the stroller has a weight limit on it, and she is heavier, then don't take a chance. I can understand that she'll hold you back by walking too slowly. Or she'll get tired before you're done. A wagon may be a good idea if the terrain where you'll be walking allows for it.

  4. I don't think there is a set age- its more about the child's size. For example, I have a very large 3 year old and we had to buy a McLaren stroller because the umbrella style can hold up to 55 lbs- unlike the regular umbrella strollers. But, we also have a 6 1/2 year old who is very tiny and only weighs 35 lbs and gets tired sometimes when trying to keep up with us, so she too has used a stroller on occasion, like at amusement parks. If you prefer to not use a stoller though, just walk slowly! That way, she can keep up with you and not get too tired. I think sometimes we adults forget just how big our steps really are.

  5. If your child still fits in the stroller, then you're fine.  My 3 1/2 year old still fits in her carraige (OK, she looks like a giant in it, but she fits comfortably) and we bought a bigger stroller for longer walks.  We're going to Disney in a few weeks and plan to bring the stroller with us for when she gets exhausted!

I don't thnk there's an age limit on strollers....just make sure he/she is comfortable and happy walking!

  6. It would be more fitting (and good exercise and participation on her part) if you were to get her a bike or something she could use herself to follow along.  if not, i don;t think there is anything wrong with having her in a stroller to go around the block a few times, cause that is just too much for a small child.  Anywhere else though, mall... park... grocery store... they should be walking.

  7. get a 3 wheeled jogging stroller, they are tough and they have brakes with knobby tires, the best ones are made by jeep & hummer. they avg $100 to $175.

  8. yep as long as they are comfortable in the stroller, it should be no problem and also, a wagon is a fun thing for little kids when you take them on a walk.

  9. my daughter is 3 and we still use a stroller when we go out places especially if we are going to be doing a lot of walking.
