  1. Any time of the year, with the exception of peruvian holydays:

    January 1: New year's day

    April: Easter

    July 28 : Independence day  (weekend 26-29)

    November 20-23 : APEC Summit

    December 25 : Christmas (weekend 25-28)

In these days many peruvians and not peruvians travel to Cuzco, Iquitos, Huaraz and other touristic cities, and hotel reservations prices increase.

  2. There are a number of Peru events throughout the years. Below are the Top Ten Peru Events and popular festivals.

You may choose which event you like most, personally I would suggest Inti Raymi (end of June) because of the grandeur of the event itself.

You may need to check the weather of the place you would like to visit before going.

    # Virgen de la Candelaria- high land folk music and dance celebrations on Feb 2

    # Carnaval- water fights and highland fiestas before the start of Lent

    # Semana Santa- spectacular pageantry during Holy Week

    # Q’oyoriti- Andean mountain worship and spiritual pilgrimages in May/June

    # Inti Raymi-ancient Inca festival of the sun held on June 24

    # Fiestas Patrias- Peru’s festive National Independence Days on July 28-29

    # Feast of Santa Rosa de Lima- honoring the patron saint of the Americas on August 30

    # El Senor de los Milagros- on Oct 18, with religious processions bedecked in purple, plus bullfights

    # Dia de los Muertos- food, drinks and flowers taken to family graves on Nov 2

    # Puno week- starting on Nov 5, among the America’s best folkloric celebrations

  3. id say during spring break or christmas break ur holidays would be better and go during a festival there beutiful.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  4. Well, you HAVE to go any time during the year.

    LOL

I have found that Christmas  is not too expensive.

I flew from New York (JFK) to Lima round trip for $750.00.

I just checked to go again in November and they had round trips as low as $585.00. If you don't mind a 14 hour layover in Texas....Ugh.

  5. The best season to visit Peru is between October- April as this is the lower tourism season so you'll find cheaper rates in all the tourist services such as accomodation, travel agencies, airlines, buses, ... and of course you'll have more time to visit the points in a better way as you won't meet hundreds of tourists wherever you go at anytime.

  6. Any time of the year as longest as you book your tour 2 or 3 months before your departure.

  7. Along with watching out for the holidays, secular and religious, also watch when the rainy seasons are due.  This isn't so critical along the coast but anywhere inland can be very wet and for a long time.  We waited in an airport all day once waiting for our plane to Arequipa.  The plane couldn't leave Cuzco because both cities where clouded in and they don't have radar.  This was 5 years ago.  Iquitos was out of the question by plane.
