When is cat shedding season?

I have a long -haired calico cat and she seems to be shedding a lot more right about now. I use a big tooth greyhound type comb and a super soft slicker brush short quick strokes. I groom her everyday. I notice her fur is changing I don't see any mats at all, but her coat in some area are thick & her hair is wavy, not smoothe. Do cats especially long - haired cats shed at particular time of year once or more? I would like some help with this please. Sometimes she will be sitting down & then when she runs about the apt. she leaves behind a little clumps of fur. She's a beautiful cat, a joy & comfort to have. Thanks Yahoo answers.

Cats can shed troughout the year, there is no particular time for them to shed....i have a burmese and he shed nonstop all year. Cats dont like water but when you have a shedding problem water really helps. You need to give your cat a bath about once a week. All you have to do is turn your shower head on and hold her under there for about 1 minute 30 seconds running your fingers through her fur(i guess you can barely call it a bath.) Rub you cat just a little to dry but mainly just let her air dry...when she is dry brush her fur.  if you notice hair on the bottom of the shower wait about 10-15 minutes for it to dry and if you have a lintroller lint roll it...if not you need to get a lint roller

i have a norwegian forest cat mix so i know exactly what you mean.  he's not only long-haired, but BUSHY, too.  He seems to shed a little all year, luckily the type of fur he has doesn't shed in single hairs like a short-haired cat does.  Instead, his comes out in tufts. (which makes it easier to clean up) i'll find the little tufts of fur on the floor, stuck between his toes, on the couch,etc.  But every so often there seems to be an overload of furballs.  like now.  he's inside all year long, so his environment is temperature controlled so i guess just evey so often he goes through an automatic shedding cycle.  it happens other times of the year, not just summer.  if your kitty is an outside/inside kitty then you may have more shedding in the warmer months.  just keep her brushed, an occasional vet bath is good.  we have a shedding comb that is extremely thorough and pulls out enough spare fur to stuff a pillow! it's called the shed ender. give it a try.

My short-haired calico sheds all year round.  It gets especially bad when she sheds her winter coat and then again when she sheds her summer coat.  At about the end of summer/winter.  Too early for summer coat shedding, but long-hairs are terrible.

Groom her daily and keep a close eye out for any type of skin irritation or large clumps falling out.  My long-haired used to leave the little clumps too, never had anything wrong with her.  If the clumps get large, get her to the vet.

As for her coat changing, it could be age or change in diet.  If you are concerned about it, consider taking her in to the vet for a well-pet exam...just a check-up to make sure all is well.

Well im not exactly sure but i have two cats and they shed all year and theres hair EVERYWHERE in my house

It does depend on the breed. My American Shorthair sheds all year round. He does seem to shed more in the summer though. Summer is a time of year when your cat sheds more. It also does depend on where you live also.
