  1. Yes to all of them. It is also extremely rude when waiting in line at a coffee shop, it holds up the line because the person cannot order immediately and no one in the line wants to hear your conversation.

  2. All of the above, plus

    * wandering around the super market

    * traveling on the bus

    * at the doctor's office

    People should understand that the whole world is not really interested in the tedium of their daily lives.  I really don't care whether they have broccoli at dinner tonight or how hot last night's lover was or the stupid thing someone did at the office or at school.  Who needs to know this stuff?

  3. *On a crowded train, bus or coach

    *when you are out to dinner with someone (this really, really annoys me when someone answers the phone or texts someone when you've gone out for a meal)

    *During meal at home

    *When you are talking to someone already

    *If you have a guest over

    *In a shop

    *In a library

    *If you are in a queue

    (unless its an emergency of course)

    Sadly, people seem to think they'll die if they turn their phone of for 30 minutes. I was at the cinema last week and not only did someones mobile phone go off, they actually answered it and have a conversation for 5 minutes.

  4. I say yes to all of the above

  5. Never any closer than 20 feet from another human and even then, loud folks sound rude at any distance.  What did we do before cell phones?  Why is it sooo important to constantly be talking?  The upside is that science has connected overuse of cell phones with brain damage and while I don't wish anyone ill will, less celling will lead to longer life, so be aware.  Cells in public places where others have to hear your conversation, is rude - period.

  6. All of the above, and always rude when using a loud voice anywhere in public.  Most people have no manners anymore.

  7. All of the above.

  8. I think it is situational. If you are in any of those places and someone calls you with an emergency, or is calling you with important news that you were expecting (or if you have to call someone with one of those things), then it is okay to answer. But if you are blabbering away about nothing, or even worse, something very personal that could make others uncomfortable, and talking very loudly at that, then it is not okay. I think that some people just need to have common sense, and listen to others if they complain that they are talking too loudly or are making people mad, and be considerate.

    Except for a public bathroom. Even if you get an important call, you should take it outside, because it's weird and is pretty rude to talk on a phone in a place like that.

  9. the doctors office......and playing golf

  10. All of the above! I used to work retail and I hated it if people were on their phones during a transaction, especially if I had to get their personal information. Also, what I think is really rude is when you are out to dinner with a friend and she is constantly texting....

  11. at the movies, the library, when they are in line at a store and they are holding up the line to talk on their phones.

  12. If you are sitting alone at your table there is nothing wrong with talking on your cell phone. You should put it down when the waitress come over and give her respect and attention.

    If you have a visitor at your house there are still times when you have to take a call. I had been waiting for a call back from the doctor when my father came to visit. I told him I had to take the call and I did.

    As long as you hang up before you get to the bank window, again, what is the big deal? It is no different than talking to the person next to you.

    Bookstores aren't 'quiet' reading zones. People talk in them when they shop with companions, so again, what is the difference between talking to a companion with you or on the phone?

    It is a bit gross to use your phone in the bathroom, but again you aren't hurting anyone.

  13. It is rude to talk on your cell phone anyplace it is rude to talk to a person standing or sitting next to you.

    Library, church, movie...I think people ought to get over the whole cell phone rudeness thing and let people live their lives.  There are enough rules without adding ones that attempt to strangle our rights as humans.

    Get the F over it.

  14. A busy restaurant yes a visitor at your house yes standing on the line at the bank maybe a bookstore definetly a public restroom I guess not.I mean it all depends on the situation.  I wish we could get to the point in our society where we could respect one another and speak on the phone when its appropriate and if you see someone talking where its inappropriate you never know what that person is going through so lets not judge.  Don't sweat the small stuff.

  15. * in a busy restaurant? only quick and if its important

    * when you have a visitor at your house?

    quick

    * when you're standing in line at the bank?

    no

    * in a a bookstore?

    yes

    * in the public restroom!?

    no LOL

    When is it rude for people to be talking on their cell phones? when they are having a conversation with somebody

  16. mostly all of them except for the public restroom thing. Now, who would care? They're just doing their own duty (hehehehe).

    Oh, and add: When your in the middle of a conversation

  17. All of them, it's so rude/annoying.

  18. In a busy restaurant? Depends on if they are just eating, then no, but if they are holding up the line, then yes

    When you have a visitor at your house? Yes, unless they invited themselves over then no

    When your standing in line at the bank? yes, because people want to go there fast and don't want to be held up

    In a bookstore? yes and no, if it's a huge bookstore like Barns and Noble, then no because your not being to annoying because the place it really noisy anyway, but a small conservative one yes because they are usually pretty quiet

    In a public restroom? No because it is public, but I wouldn't because of the fact people are going to the bathroom in there
