  1. it is not

  2. It is safer to return the ball with under-hand pass, or at least hit the ball below the top of the net, so that your ball goes across the net plain moving upward.

  3. im pretty sure never =]

  4. no..the ball must hit the court in bounds, then the other person can volley back

  5. You have to at least bump the ball back over the net. That way other players on your team will be able to set and spike it back over the net.If you have a tall player, they can hit it back over.

  6. The rule does not have anything to do with the jump or whether or not the player is front row or back row.  The rule has to do with the position of the ball.  If the ball is completely above the height of the net and the ball is in front of the 3 meter (10 foot) line, it is illegal for any of the 6 players to send it back over the net.

If the ball is behind the 3 meter line, the ball may be sent over no matter what the height.

Jump is not part of the rule.  A tall player can be standing on the ground and be an illegal attacker (or blocker) of the serve.  A short player can jump and can be legal.

  7. the ball can go back over on the first contact if it is behind the ten foot line, or below the tape of the net.

  8. When the front row player doesn't jump. If you have a tall enough player they could theoretically stand at the net with their arms up and if the serve was hit low enough they could send it right back. You cannot however, have a front row player jump and try to block or attack a serve.
