Question:

When is it bad to apologize for things you've done wrong?

Are there times when you shouldn't apologize for your errors? Such as when dealing with a person who will only remember that you were wrong and admitted it, and not their own contribution to the problem? I've known people who have never said they were sorry, for anything, ever ... and I never completely understood it. Is that why?

  1. Well, I wouldn't apologize if I know that the person that I am saying it to will only follow it with "I don't want to hear sorry" or "Do you think saying sorry will make everything okay?"

  2. When you're not sorry. then it is sort of hypocritical.

And well, if they're just going to rub it in your face that you were wrong, be the bigger person and leave them in their immature mess...

  3. If you honestly think you did something wrong, then you should apologize for your part in it (not theirs). This is simple integrity. Realize that you are doing this FOR YOURSELF, not for the other person. If the other person doesn't uphold their end or behaves in a churlish manner, they lose your respect, period. Maybe you will be saying sayonara to them because they are a pain in the a$$.

  4. When it will hurt someone else badly.

  5. I believe it is always right to apologize for your wrong.  Unless you are doing something right that others consider wrong. (i.e. You are hiding a Jew during WWII. I don't think you would need to apologize to the n***s.) In any case always do the right thing! :)
