hi,

i've just finished uni and would like to work as a checkout operator at one of my local supermarkets; asda, morrisons, sainsbury's, or tesco

i've rang them and also enquired at customer services, however they all seem to have the same message, i.e. that they aren't recruting at the moment, howveer will be later on in august, which obviously is of no use to me

so my question is for anyone who may be a manager of such a store, or someone who's worked there, or knows someone who works there... i just want to know when do they start recruiting for the summer, because i would like a job asap

also i've been told it helps if you know someone on the inside...is this true?

btw my question is concerned with supermarkets in the uk, not elsewhere

  1. In america they are always hiring good quality employees. But then you aren't here, sorry.I would recommend trying to talk to the store manager.Tell them how enthused that you are about working for them. That you would love to learn from them and it would help you grow as a person.Believe me,It might sound like you are trying to suck up to them, but it does some good things for you.

1.Shows you have pride in working for them

2.Lets them know you want what they have(leadership)

3.That you could be a valueable employee for there company.

Managers can bring good employees in even during times of hiring freezes.

    Good Luck
