  1. Spring is not the time for seeding your lawn to many weeds to compete with and no chance for pre emergents in spring which will leave you with weeds and crabgrass that once treated will leave you needing to seed again. If you have irrigation you can seed now make sure to break the soil up with an aerator a rake or a weasel then seed and water for 10 Min's a day for about 10 days try to limit any traffic on new seed and mow before seeding a little shorter than regularly now hold off mowing again for about 2 weeks or until new germination is established new hairs are weak and will die if crushed with mowers or traffic. Without watering capability wait till later september. You will also want a starter fertilizer to increase root establishment before winter. Good Luck and remember your best weed control is a thick sod(lawn).

  2. Glenn is quite right...on all counts.

  3. Spring time.  because if you lay new seeds now,  they will freeze up & die.

  4. I think the first lady has it right,  spring time.

  5. Spring - Just after the last frost.

  6. I don't know for sure.....but I'd say Spring time......  as if it's fall, it's too cold to grow it anyway.

  7. Northwest Wisconsin here, the time is now.  Fall is best, right before the fall rains start.  Late August, early September is the best.

Our best friend is a home builder, can't take his Harley road trip now, he has too many new lawns to get seeded.

  8. I've heard & read that both work well, but I'd call a garden & lawn expert....... & get their opinions, before you get misled  on here.
