  1. When your apponent scatches or while playing 9 ball, the object ball plus the cue ball doesnt hit the cusion.


  2. in 9 ball you have to hit the lowest numbered ball 1st or it is a ball in hand fall.if you scratch.if you dont hit a rail after you contact the lowest number ball with either the cue ball or the object ball. in 8 ball you have ball in hand if...you dont hit one of your balls and a rail.you scratch.

  3. when the opponent scratches you can put it anywhere behind the second diamond.  but in cut throat (three man) you can put it anywhere when an opponent scratches.

  4. it depends on the game. If playing 9-ball, then it is when the cue ball is pocketed or does not touch at leats 1 cussion. In 8-ball it is when the cue ball is pocketed or does not drive a ball to the rail or touch 3 rails.
