I had it piercd 4 1/2 weeks ago and i am going to have to change it when i go to school. I will pick the actual jewel off and just leave in the pin. I want a bit of practise before school starts in 2 weeks. When would it be safe to try because i am going to have to do it at some point whether i really should or not as school dont allow them but i need something in there to prevent it from healing.

When i do this would it be best to leave it for a while instead of constantly chnaging to put a nice stud in once im home?

Thanks!

  1. I believe its recommended 6 weeks for cartilage.

But, i'd say if it doesn't hurt.......do ahead.........just clean everything really really really well.....especially cuz it IS still new !

  2. You can get a clear thing to put in there called a retainer that will keep it from closing up AND I doubt anyone will notice it, if it does not hurt to change it then you really could do it now. Make sure you always soak your jewelry in peroxide and then rinse it off before you change it though, that platic stuff harbors germs, so always clean it after you take it out. I got my retainer at Claires, and try to get the one that is straight and not curved, they are easier to use and don't hurt,. Get two or three because they are easy to lose. I wasn't supposed to wear my noserings at work, but I always wore them and got away with it, after a while I got tired of the retainers. So maybe try to get away with it but bring a retainer in case!!:)
