When what freezes over?  California is mired in a deficit and the governor and legislature can't get a budget passed. Check for sales in the paper, but plan on paying sales tax on your purchases.

Cali doesn't have one.  Some retailers are having their own "Sales Tax Holiday" sales where they absorb the cost of the sales tax in the form of a discount from the regular selling price but the state doesn't offer a tax holiday that I can find any reference to at all.
