When is it tornado season in Miami?

My girlfriend and I are there the last 3 weeks of july. Is that bad..?

I can guaruntee you you will have nothing to worry about as far as tornadoes are concerned.  Florida gets lots of tornadoes, but they are almost all EF-0s to EF-1s and are very weak.  Also, most of them occur farther north that Miami.

Late July Is hurricane season though.  And while you will probably be okay, you should be prepared to ride out a storm for a few days, or maybe even evacuate.  Pay close attention to National Weather Service forecasts, and do not hesitate to evacuate if necessary. Remember Hurricane Andrew.

There truly is no distinct tornado season in Miami, Florida. There have been tornadoes reported in every month on the calendar within Miami-Dade county. Historically, July has not been a very active month concerning tornadoes in the county. A total of 11 tornadoes have been reported there during the month of July between 1950 and 2006.
