  1. There is information about the eclipse at http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/LEplot/LEpl...

For Saudi Arabia (AST = UT + 3 hours) the times are:

    Penumbral eclipse begins 21:23

    Partial eclipse begins 22:36

Greatest eclipse 00:10 (on the 17th). 81% of the Moon's diameter covered.

    Partial eclipse ends 01:45

    Penumbral eclipse ends 02:57

  2. Hi Sheem!

Arabia has a fine view of tonight's partial eclipse of the moon, provided you don't mind staying up late.

The partial eclipse starts at 10:36 p.m. Arabia Time this evening, Saturday the 16th.  It takes the moon about an hour and a half to make its way into the earth's shadow, with mid-eclipse at 12:10 a.m. (now past midnight into Sunday the 17th).

Nowhere in the world can anyone see more than a deep partial eclipse.  At mid-eclipse, 81% of the lunar disc is in shadow, leaving a thin crescent over the moon's north polar cap.

After midnight, the moon begins making its way out of the shadow, with the partial eclipse ending at 1:44 a.m. Arabia Time.

The next TOTAL eclipse of the moon in Saudi will be the night of June 15, 2011.

  3. yes it just happened
