  1. Right now, as you read this, healthy rabbits are being killed at animal shelters simply because there are more wonderful rabbits than there are rabbit-people.

What can we do to stop the killing? Adopt from a shelter.

Do not allow your rabbit to have even one litter. Even if you find good homes for those babies, those are good homes that the shelter rabbits won't get. And what if each of those babies is allowed to have one litter? Will you take responsibility for each of them finding a good home? I can guarantee that within one or two generations a rabbit from that "just one litter" will end up dead at a shelter.

Talk to others about this problem. Many people are unaware of how many rabbits are being surrendered and euthanized at shelters-and compared to the ones who are dumped in fields, those at shelters are the lucky ones. Lucky to have a lethal overdose of sodium pentothal injected by a caring person!

What have we come to when that's the best we can offer these guys? To purchase from a breeder or pet store is to write a death warrant for a shelter rabbit. When you adopt from a shelter, you are saving TWO rabbits - the one you adopt, and the one who can come in and fill his spot.

    It's as simple as that

  2. well you are pretty stupid.

your rabbit is going to have great difficulty giving birth.

The babies may get stuck in her birth canal if this happens you will lose the babies as well as the doe.

ring your vets and explain what you have stupidly done and see what they suggest.

    NEVER breed rabbits again.

    your a irresponsible rabbit owner.

  3. Breeding is fun, and after you do it once, it gets so easy.  She'll be due anywhere from 30-32 days after you breed her...

It is kinda a good thing you didn't breed 2 dwarfs, cause they sometimes have "peanuts" and you may have to kill them yourself (they will die with in less than 24 hours of birth anyways).  Depending on how big the dad is, she may have some difficulty.  Don't bother her to much and make sure she gets enough water and food.  A few days before she kindles (gives birth), she will make a nest, and eat and drink a lot more than usual.  On day 30, check on her a in her nest for any kits (babies).  If she is acting skidish and nervous, it is about time.  Most rabbits kindle at night though.  If she doesn't have them come day 30, give her more time.  If you see any signs that she maybe struggling to deliver, take her to the vet.  If that happens, don't expect to have too many kits left.  Its sad, but the mama bunny may kill her kits by trying to pull them out if they are stuck.  I'm not trying to scare you out of ever breeding your rabbit again, but these are just some of the troubles I've expericed in my four years of breeding!

Your not stupid, as someone mentioned earier.  Experience is the only way to learn... she should be just fine.  Don't spay her if you really want to continue breeding.  Why take away your rabbits natural abailties for your own personal gain.  Just don't let her live with a buck.

  4. The bunnies are going to be mixed, so they should be okay for her to birth.

She should be due 31 days after breeding day.

so if she were bread the 25 of july, she shoudl be due on sunday, the 24th.

    she should be fine.

but make sure the dad is not in with her, and does not see the babbies untill they are hopping and have hair.

Ohh... when she pulls out her hair, leave it there!!! Shes making a nest. (most ppl dont know that)

  5. OMG, where to start, take her to the VET! if you bred her with a larger rabbit there is a good chance she might need a c-section. Why would you breed her? After she has this litter, may I suggest you fix her and the babies.

The house rabbit society often has spay/neuter rebate programs and you can look up a vet that knows how to treat rabbits since they are considered an exotic.

Also are you keeping all the babies? Do you have proper homes lined up?

  6. *sigh* you really should not have mated her if you really have no experience, you are putting your rabbits life in danger, you mater her with a bigger buck, which means bigger kits, now she might dye birthing them because they are too big or if you are lucky enough to get her to a vet then you will have large vets bills to pay. There are enough rabbits dying in shelters, really, why did you have to add more? The gestation period is 31 days. You should notice her making a nest, when that happens it's usually a matter of days before they are born.

Please get her spayed after this, she doesn't deserve it, it's hard on their bodies. Un-spayed does have an 80% chance of getting uterine cancer too so if you love her you will make the right decision for her and get her spayed
