  1. You cannot guess the exact days of when Ramadan will start, many times a calendar or website will say it's on some day, but ends up being the day before or the day after. In the end, it all depends on the sighting of the crescent the evening before the supposed day, if it is not sighted, they must wait till the next day to look for the crescent again.

Ramadan this year will begin somewhere in between the 31st of August and the 2nd of September and will last for 29-30 days, depending on the moon (should be a crescent that looks like a curved strand of hair). Regardless of which day it starts, Ramadan will be considered to have started the night before the actual day, since in Islam, Maghrib (Sunset) marks the beginning of the next day.

It should be the same in every country but people are always arguing, as usual. Whoever sights the moon the night before, they start Ramadan the next day. In America, we sometimes sight the moon ourselves or wait for Saudi Arabia (about 14 hours ahead of us) to sight it, and we follow. Most of the time we just follow Saudi Arabia, since they are ahead in time to sight the moon.

Well, if you mean what you're not supposed to do in front of a Muslim when they are fasting, it's quite a bit (even though it should apply all the time, not just Ramdan). Don't cuss, backbite, try not to eat in front of them because they'll be HUNGRY, and just try not to remind them of eating or the chick who just passed by. They have to keep their mind pure, and their eyes and mouth under control.

They can have intercourse (with their spouse) when they aren't fasting during Ramadan. That means any time between a little after Sunset and a little before Sunrise.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions =]
