In the Seattle area we were told yesterday that the teaching staff will be needed until the middle of April, and weekends after that.

I don't know about NY or Vermont.

It totally depends on the weather.  The area ski resorts try to remain open as long as possible.  As long as it is cool enough to run snow machines and the snow base hasn't melted, the ski resorts will remain open.

In new york, late march to early april.  Windham likes to try to stay open until april first, and they did that last year.  Vermont is usually open a little later.

I;m probably going to windham on friday, sunday, then hopefully wednesday then friday then sunday, wednesday, then friday, then i go home for spring break, then hopefully they will be open on april 2nd and 4th for some spring skiing.

Most Vermont ski areas close shop around April 15. In recent years, due to late season snows and a battle between Killington and Okemo, other resorts are trying to stay open later, but it isn't something anyone should ever count on.

I've had last days at Stratton on April 16; Mount Snow on April 5; Jay Peak on April 10, and Killington on May 5.

If the snow dump has been good, some of the stashes I ski in the backcountry sometimes hold out until May 10 and then you can always count on Killington trying to keep Superstar open until the end of May...but it usually sucks.

I've skied at Hunter several times as late as the second week in April. It was very thin and slushy. I'm not too sure about the other Catskill resorts.

Likewise, I've found good snow in the Adirondack backcountry as late as May 15, but again that was after good seasons of high snowfall in the 'Dacks.
