  1. Not sure what "sneak peek" is.

The Perseid meteor shower is from July 17 to Aug 24, with the peak the night of Aug 12 (number per hour around 60).

But there will be more than the normal background meteors for another week or so.

So, yes you missed the peak for this meteor shower.

The next strong meteor shower is the Orionids, Oct 2-Nov 7, peak on Oct 21 (number per hour around 20).

Then the big ones are the Geminids (number per hour around 120) the first week of December, and the Quadrantids (around 120 per hour) in the first week of January.

There are meteor showers almost every month (search wikipedia for "list of meteor showers" to get the list).

  2. Keep looking up. Meteor streaks happen every day and night. There are times when we can see more than normal like when the earth's orbit crosses the path where a comet once passed. Those times are called Meteor Showers.

This is the calendar site for the meteor showers for 2008 from the International Meteor Organization. Everything you ever wanted to know about meteor showers is on this site. When 2009 gets here, change the date on this link and you will have the new 2009 listing too. This way you wont miss any meteor showers ever again. Enjoy

  3. We just had the Perseid shower.  But fear not, there are lots more where they came from.

My favorite is the Leonids, November 17th.  Dress warm.
