The Department of State website indicates a new procedure that will start this summer. Are they still giving the exam this spring?

  1. Hi,

I was in the same boat...I contacted the State Dept and this was there answer:

The first step to become a Foreign Service Officer is to take the Foreign Service Test, which traditionally has been offered in April. We are, however, moving to automate the process and make it computer based. For this reason we will not be giving the test in April, but later this summer (DATE TO BE DETERMINED).

The Registration process (to include the application form and personal narrative) has not yet begun.  We will be posting information on when and how to register/apply for the computer-based test once the timing of the new process is finalized.  We have not, as yet, identified the testing locations.  That information will be available at Registration. If you have not already done so, please sign up for the email updates.
