When is the US goverment going to legalize marijuana?

Never. The country is headed in the other direction. The government, and the nosy busy bodies are going to make tobacco illegal very soon. And they are going to bring back prohibition of alcohol. America is becoming a police state.

you were right about making money out of it, because i think there is potentially a market. i think they wont do so because it is a threat for alcohol's revenue. in amsterdam you can smoke weed legally. furthermore, i like to add that it would not go down well too these complete goody goody brainwashed publics, whom seems to be more concerned about bullsh&it health and safety more than anything. yea ok smoking is bad for you, but so is drinking alcohol. when you have a morning hang over its actually your brain shrunk due to dehydration, and also many dead braincells. yes im against harder drugs such as injection types because that is absolutely dangerous. my guess is to stick with the law because you can get **** ed for smoking it by the cops, or get a flight to amsterdam!

Because the pharmaceutical industry is very powerful and they want to produce and sell "their version" to the public, with taxes on top of it.

Never and this is why: Drug offenses constitute a large part of the "three strikes" law. This fills up prisons in our country. And prisons are good business. The outside companies that supply food , clothing, etc. to prisons make alot of money. Secondly, the so-called "war on drugs" gets votes for politicians as it makes them look tough on crime. Murderers and rapists are set free to do more unspeakable acts to innocent people but someone caught with pot is considered a danger to society. Go figure.

Ha! You think for a second people will obtain it legally and pay all the taxes that will be attached to it?  It won't happen because people will still grow their own to avoid the taxes.  If it isn't gonna benefit the government financially then it ain't gonna happen.
