  1. It depends on how bad it gets. It can take a few months or a few years.

The great depression began in 1929 and wasn't over until WW2 was well under way. That is well over ten years.

It's a necessary cycle. It will make us stronger in the end. I'm stuggling but in hard times you have to be more resourceful and find different ways to cope.

On the upside a low American dollar can mean that people overseas will buy more American products. That would employ more people. We still have a lot of things going for us.

  2. remember that when it's time to vote.

  3. This is not a "bad recession" it is just an economic slow down.  In recessions  the unemployment rate is high and people worry about having a job, not just making ends meet. The problem is that  wages for  the average worker  has barely been keeping up with inflation for years, and most the gains  in economic growth has been going to the top few percent. Because the poorer you are the larger fraction of you income you spend on food and gas, the recent run up in the prices of these items  have hit people  hard.  There is no reason to think that things will improve because the economy picks up  because without policy changes  food and gas will remain high and wages  will not  increase enough. to keep up.
