When is the best time and where is the best place to veiw Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)?

its one of my goals in life (bucket list if you will) to see the northern lights. i think ive wanted to ever since i saw Balto as a child. id like to be somewhere thats covered with snow and id like to know as much as i can so i can be satisfied with my experience. thanks to all who answer!

When I was in the military I was stationed in Iceland and was able to see the Northern Lights on most clear evenings in the winter.  You say you haven't seen them, they are beautiful and very interesting to watch.  The colors are amazing also, and how the pulsate through the sky, it's almost like you can reach out and touch them when they are really bright.

british colombia... its a mazing there ... i really recomend it. i snowboard there alot. and wihstler is there to if your a skier or snowboarder...
