  1. go at low tide unless you have a good sand bar   you could go any time cause high tide the waves break on shore    with a sand bar it acts like shore causing the waves to form

  2. I love to bodyboard too... hahahahaha.

the best time of day to go, surfing of bodyboarding is really early in the morning, right at dawn (aka dawn patrol) or really really late, around sunset (aka glass off) these are the two times of day when the waves are the most glassy (not choppy). Also, it could be the beach you are surfing at. Try out some different breaks. it also helps to check out www.surfline.com

they have surf cams posted at lots of beaches, so you can check out all of your local breaks and see how the waves are before you decide to go.

  3. If you live in Santa Barbara, check with the local surfers what tide has the best break, and then check a tide chart to find out what time the optimum tide is.

  4. its pretty cool during low tide but that means you have to go far out to get some of the big waves. The benefit from that is that you get to ride a longer period of time before hitting the shore. If you go high tide, the waves are in closer which is good but you might only be on your board

for a couple of seconds before you hit the shore. So its up to you, if you want a longer ride, low tides your best bet. If you just wanna pow around, high tide. hope it helps!

  5. For whatever reason, I can't log onto http://surfline.com to check for you. You can go to the site, check Santa Barbara, and click on 'Local". That should explain the best tides and winds to go. For example, my local break is best at mid to high tide, with a NE wind.

Okay, I got on this time. You need a low tide...

  6. From around 8 AM-7 PM

just don't go out when its dark outside, because its more dangerous.

Check out this website that I've provided.

I use it everyday, and its really helpful.
