I am planning on taking a 4day/3night trip to Nassau, Bahamas around the middle or end of August 08 or Labor Day weekend for my b-day. I was wondering how the weather is around that time?? I've never traveled to the Carribean but I am aware of the hurricane season there....and the humid summers.....But, I am wondering if I could still take the chance and get away with having a wonderful vacation?? Also, I am planning on staying at either the Wyndham or Sheraton Cable Beach....does anyone have any personal reviews of any of these hotels??

  1. The beautiful thing about Nassau is that the weather is pretty much consistent throughout the year.  The lowest it gets is in January and thats about 77 degrees and the highest it gets is about 89 degrees in August.  June and August are typically the most humid months. However, this compares to Miami in the same months.

  2. first let me say, the very worst time to try and go to the bahamas is during the spring.  nassau and freeport especially are covered with spring breakers and it makes for a misserable time if you are stuck in a hotel with them.  more hotels are banning them, but they still find away around it.

someone earlier listed temperatures but that does not give the entire picture.  it is very humid in the bahamas espeically during the summer, and it can get really hot and unbearable during the august months.  if you are worried about hurricane season, i wouldn't be, because it is impossible to plan around those months.  as it was recommend just take out travel insurance and you should be fine.  THe sheraton was just renovated and is really nice, and i think they are in the process of renovating the wynadham so think about that in your process.  also the cable beach strip is about to be a part of a major development and you may go their during this period and i know from experience the worst thing is to be sstuck in a tourist area during renovations.

  3. I think you will be okay, you might want to take some travel insurance out just in case. The airlines will let you reschedule if they can't fly to your destination but the resorts are a different story. The worst hurricanes seem to hit in September, so be aware. We have been lucky the last 2 years.

The beaches and water are gorgeous.

    Enjoy and have fun)

  4. I can not  say anything  about  hotels  in Nassau, because I was there only in a cruises.

I have been  4 times already in Nassau, in the Spring, In the winter,in the fall   and in the summer. And the  weather is always wonderful!! Hope  you have a wonderful time!!

  5. My wife and I visited Atlantis in August a few years back.  If you are going to Nassau/Paradise Island, this is THE place to be!  It was hot, but with all of that water around (as well as margaritas!), it was fantastic.  You do have to worry about hurricanes, however.  That is prime-time for them.  I am taking my family there in early July.  My oldest is 5 years old and 48" tall (the minimum height required for use of the slides).  I can't wait to see his reaction!  My wife and I have done a lot of traveling over the years (many places in Europe), Maui, Kauai, etc.  This is, by far, our favorite destination.  Have a plast!
