I don't know if you are supposed to breed her before her period, during or after. I know this is a stupid question, but I just don't know.

  1. its during her period, i believe, i cant remember since the last time my puppy had puppies!

  2. The fact that you are clueless about such a n elementary matter as this tells me you have no business trying to breed your dog. Have you had breeder training? NO!  Do you have a mentor to guide you through the process? NO! Have you had your dog checked out as to whether she's a good , healthy dog for breeding? NO! Have you had her spayed? Evidently NOT.  Have you discussed breeding her with your Vet? NO! Have you educated yourself about the health benefits spaying your dog would bring? NO! Have you familiarized yourself with the problem of dog over-population? NO!  Have you been to animal rescue Clinics to see what a problem overpopulation causes? or made yourself aware of how many dogs are euthanized each week, month, year? NO!

If I were you I would change the direction of my thinking, and schedule your dog to be spayed for her health's sake and for the sake of the many unwanted pups in the world that are killed daily because novice dog-owners foolishly want to try their hand at breeding, much to the detriment of the overall dog population in the U. S. PLEASE, PLEASE, be a responsible dog owner!

  3. Don't breed your dog.  Get it spayed.

  4. 1) dogs dont have "periods" they have heat cycles

    2) if you have to ask you shouldnt be breeding

and honestly is you think dogs have periods then you are in NO way ready or knowledgable enought to even think about breeding

  5. Never - get her spayed.

Sorry, but If you need an answer to this question you don't know enough about dogs to be breeding them.

  6. Dogs mate during their heat or season which is what you are calling a period. They normally have heat cycles for 21 days and in general are receptive to being bred between the 11th and 14th day of he season. This is when the initial swelling goes down enough to make the area less hard and the discharge turns from a blood red to a watery pink. Although dogs can have heats 6 months apart many go much longer having cycles from 10 to 14 month apart it depend on the dog. Gestation, BTW is 63 days from the time of breeding.

  7. Breed her while shes on her period. Thats the only way she can get pregnant. Also the best age for breeding is 2 to 3 yrs of age. She will produce more milk, and also she will have a better delivery. The older a dog gets the harder her labor is and  most likely her puppies (which she will not have many) will not live.

I have a prego miniature pinscher right now who is expecting at the end of this month =]

so good luck! hope this helps

  8. The best time to breed your dog is when there are no dogs left in shelters to be adopted.  Please have her spayed. You will have a healthier dog.

  9. ducking

EDIT: if you have to ask, you shouldn't be breeding. you're going to get answers you don't want to hear

  10. 2 years get it checked out

  11. You have a lot to learn before you even think about breeding.  Find yourself a mentor, read and learn all about breeding.  Better yet, have your dog spayed.
