I'm trying to get back into skiing after a long hiatus. And I want to buy new up-to-date skis without spending a lot of money. I'm considered an advanced intermediate skier and ski on all terrains but mainly groomed trails. So when and where can I get the best deals? I live in CT.

  1. Best time is late season/early spring. The stores offer clearance sales so they don't have to waste storage space on what will be last years skis. Gotta clear them out for the newer models.

  2. summer in the beggining because itis the time that basically no one is buying skis because they wont need them

  3. Keep your eye on the sports stores flyers.  The Sports Authority is having sales on ski stuff right now.  Sometimes near the end of the season, which is quite soon in the northeast, the ski mountains will have really good deals also.

  4. Summer, somewhere with no mountains and no snow ever.

  5. when it snows out

  6. probably in the spring when everyone has there clearance sales.

  7. Right before they get the new year models in. they will be needing to get rid of the old ones to make room for the new but really just keep shoping around

  8. 3 am

  9. Most ski shops clear out their inventory in late March or early April. If there's a particular ski you want, you are better off to shop early- if you wait until the summer then most of the desirable skis will be sold out and you will be left wit the models that no one wanted.  If you're buying on ebay, summer or early fall.

  10. You should definitely buy your skis just after the season ends. You can expect sales of 50% 75% off. If you want to ski before the end of the season & can't wait for the sales then you might try renting skis until the season ends. Ski rentals aren't that expensive & range from $15.00-$25.00 per day & this includes boots & poles. You can save a bundle by renting a few times & then buying the skis on sale at the end of the season. Most of the time you should not buy skis at the ski shop where you ski since they are usually the highest priced except maybe at the season's end.

Also, check your local sporting goods companies in your area that carry snow ski equip., they can have good prices & sales. Also, check the website www.amazon.com, you can buy on-line if you have a credit card & they have great deals & you'll receive the skis within 5 business days. There are a lot of excellent brands of skis to think about & a few are Rossingnol, K2, Hart, Head & Atomic. Any one of these brands are excellent. I have a pair of Rossingnol & I love them. Another important thing to remember is your level of skiing. Do not buy anything that they say is for beginners, considering your llevel of skiing. You'll probably break them easily sinc your a good skier & these lower level skis are made for fast skiing, rough rides such as moguls or hard fast turning. You should try a "recreational ski" or "racer" ski. These are based on your ability. A recreational level is great for intermediate & most expert runs. If like fast skiing & then I would by the racer. There's not much difference but they will give you more speed if that's what your looking for & both of these levels of skis are built to stand up to any type of conditions. I hope this helps & Good Luck!!!

  11. If you're looking for a good pair of discount skis...buy right before the new models come out. usually right before fall you can find some good deals.
