I would like to buy and plant now, but I don't want to waste my time or money on the tree not surviving. I live fairly close to the coast in SC.

  1. Now is a good time.

Plant crape myrtles during warm weather months of June through mid August so the plants have a chance to root out into soil before cold temperatures induce dormancy.

    See source for more info.

  2. You can plant them now, however, the best time is during the fall when they go dormant and in the early spring.
