When is the best time to recharge an iPod Nano (3rd Generation)?

My question regards the 'Standard Charging' section in the following Apple link: http://www.apple.com/batteries/

For the long run of the batteries, would it be better to recharge the iPod Nano batteries AFTER it has died or BEFORE it has died? The Apple article does not make this clear to me, although it does, somewhat cryptically, explain the charge cycle of iPods.

Could someone explain to me which would be the best method to do, i.e. recharge the iPod daily even if the batteries aren't low, or recharge the iPod after or nearing its battery death.

BTW, for the long run, I mean extending the capacity of iPod Nano's batteries for as long as possible, so that the batteries are still able to be used even after years and years.

Thanks for reading. :)

  1. why dont you just charge it every night when you go to sleep so it never dies

  2. uhmm if you just got it wait till it dies about 2 or 3 times and then it ill have longer battery life and then after that it doesnt matter

  3. I always charge my portable devices when the battery life is extremely low but not dead.  By the way, I would be very surprised if you still have your same Nano years and years in the future - don't you think you'll eventually buy a new portable device when you have some money and the technology is improved?

  4. I charge my ipod anytime i feel like it.  it doesn't make much of a difference when you do it, but it's really best not to let it die.  the best way to keep it always nice and charged is to purchase a car adapter/charger for it, so you can listen to it while you're driving and you can keep the battery full at the same time.

    have fun!
