We have a family shore house on the Eastern Shore in MD.

I would like to know when is the best time to sail, like during High tide or Low tide? Or in between, or does it even matter?

  1. I love sailing and think any time you are out, it's good. I am not familiar with the area or the boat you have. It may make a difference, depending on the trips you want to take. Generally, I would think you would use high tides, but again. I don't know your area.

  2. Sailing is`more about relaxing than work, so keep that in mind.  I've always enjoyed early mornings or late afternoons best.  Just watch out for thunderstorms this time of year.  If you run aground at high tide it makes it harder to get off, so don't venture into shallow water for say a couple hours before mean high tide.  On  the Chesapeake bay a 28 to 30 ft boat is safe, just use caution.....Good sailing

  3. The best time to sail is when there is a wind blowing (from an old sailor).

  4. doesn't matter. tide is a detergent to wash your clothes with. it would take a lot to sail a boat. dont try it

  5. It dosen't matter, any time spent on the water is the best time.

  6. The best time can be found on your tide table. Use the tide to your advantage. When sailing out, look for the tide to be going out with you, and vice-versa. It can make  HUGE difference in the amount of work you have to do!

  7. The best time is all the time. Tide doesn't matter unless you run aground, or are going to fish. Just keep the wind blowing less than 40kts. Enjoy.
