The earlier the better.  Even if it is not the lawn care season yet you want to get your name out to people so that when the time comes they have your info.  Commercially, most properties sign their mowing contracts in Jan or Feb.  For residential business, people tend to wait till the last second to make a decision.  

Going door to door in promising neighborhoods with a professional looking flyer and business card is always a good bet!
