When is the best time to study abroad?

I was interested in AFS. But I'm intimidated financially.

And my GPA is still in the rocks.

Also, I'm heading into 11th grade...the year I wanted to do it.

Since, I can't do it now.. when should I start studying abroad? After high school? Would 12th grade be bad? After 4 years in college?

It would be hard to study abroad if your GPA isn't very high, but still doable. I'm also going into 11th grade and plan on studying abroad the 2nd semester, I also was financially intimidated to start out. But many of the non-profit study abroad programs offer scholarships, especially if you are a minority, although you do have to write at least one essay to apply. I would not suggest studying abroad in 12th grade because that is when you are applying for colleges, and if you didn't get into the ones you planned, you wouldn't want to come home and have to deal with it when it would be possible to late to apply for other colleges. I'm not sure about studying abroad in college, it totally depends on your course load and what you plan to major in. Good luck:)

Normally to study abroad is by virtue of a Scholarship or exchange program.  If you will get your grade point up I might have a suggestion for you but you also have to consider the finance part.  Anyway do your best and you will find reward.

The best time to study abroad would be after 4 years in college. Cos after college, u would be a lot more matured and u would be able to handle things alone cos u will be sure about what u want to do. If u want to go after 12th also, u can go but it may be like u will spend too much time alone in a foreign country while u can have maximum fun in college when u study in your own country. Generally people go after 4 years in college. But if u are sure that u can manage and u have good financial support, u can go after completing 12th. It is basically ur perception about how u want things to be. Think and make a decision cos u will not be able to undo it. All the best..!
