When is the best time to study abroad??

Question

freshman sophmore junior senior year of college??

im going to a community college till my sophmore year

and then im trasferring to pace university (in NYC)

im not sure if i should wait or do it next semester???

Normally I would say your senior year but since you are doing two years at a community college, I say the second semester of your sophomore year. You do not want to interrupt your last two years since you are switching colleges. Second semester of the soph year would be best. Make sure you plan out what to save to take so you do not hurt your credits. There should be a counseleor at the community college to help you with that.

You also need to be making yourself very familiar the list of courses required at the college where you will graduate. You do not want to get your classes confused which would waste time and money.

Does your community college offer study abroad? I would say the best time is the second semester of sophomore or first semester of junior year. The reason being that you need to focus on getting the credit transferred the first semester you are there and most colleges require you to have spent at least a semester at said college before you can study abroad (it may even be a year). You generally don't want to study abroad senior year though it may depend on your degree/if you are applying for grad school. Mostly because as you advance towards an upperclassmen your course requirements become really specific and it will be hard to find a study abroad program that offers those specific courses and if they will transfer. So the best time is late soph. or junior year. Good luck!
