  1. Obviously August is not the best, too hot!  Wife's there now and she says it's in the 90s.  Were from Florida, so used to heat.

  2. Fall or Spring, Summer is too hot, Winter is too cold.

  3. I have only ever been in january (last year).  It was chilly but I had my coat and boots and I was fine.  It sprinkled one day but other than that the weather was fine.  It was great for seeing sights.  I waited less than 5 minutes to get into the Colosseum and probably about 20 minutes to get into the Vatican(they still had the nativity scene and christmas tree set up for Christmas and it was really beautiful).  In Rome, we met a lot of Brazilians and a few other European but never any other American traveling, same with Venice.  Lots of Americans in Florence (studying).  So the tourism is way down in January, which I liked.  My friend who was with me speaks fluent Italian but the Italians liked to talk to us in English(lucky for me since I don't speak Italian!!) The waiters and restaurant owner we're all so friendly and nice, and I would guess way less rushed than in the summer months.  So I would recommend going in January, I just feel like you can experience Italy better with out all the crowds of tourist.  My friend traveling with me had been to Italy lots of times and she said summer was disneyland-italy, and not the same at all.  I hope you make it there soon and have a wonderful time, I love Italy!

  4. Fall...  the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.  September is probably best.  I was there at the beginning of October and it was kinda chilly in Venice.  Rome is further south so the weather is warmer in the fall.

  5. spring, because summer is too hot...believe me, i'm italian

  6. i went in april and the weather is beautiful...mid 60's - mid 70's

  7. in may and september I think

  8. March/April or October. May through August is extremely hot.

  9. End September/early October

April/May/June as well but there might be more pilgrims than in fall.

I would avoid July/August, the winter months might be OK as well but you need to bring a warm coat.

  10. from april to june, from september to october
