  1. Late December, Jan, Feb and early March are the best times. Anywhere north of Auckland is mint. Particularly around Leigh, Whangarei, Poor Knights and the Bay of Islands.

  2. We don't have a major jellyfish problem like Australia or anything so no worries there.  The best & most reliable time of year for weather all round NZ is February.  Also the school holidays end at the beginning of Feb so you avoid all the crowds & lack of accomodation situation.

For snorkeling & swimming the best places are all in the upper North Island, Auckland, Northland and The Coromandel.

Also get a Lonely Planet guidebook

    weather is:

    metservice.co.nz

  3. October to Febuary

  4. IT would depend what time of the year you arrive, in the North island or the South  for that matter, from November through to about March would be a good time, the weather is warm, and there is some very good locations to visit. try Google it, and you will have a lot of info to go on (I did and was surprised as what I came up with)

    Good luck,

  5. Over summer which is December through to end of March is probably best. A little earlier or later will still be reasonably warm for hiking and enjoying nature, but may be too cold for swimming. We do not have a jellyfish season. Occasionally beaches get jelly fish but unlike some countries, it is not really that predictable.February, is the best month usually for swimming and snorkelling.

  6. Hmm I'm not an expert on the jellyfish thing, but summer time would probably be the best time? I've heard that jellyfish numbers are not very predictable...but on a different note maybe not in the heat of summer as it can get pretty hot and sticky here so mid-Feb? The weather is good then, without the humidity annoying your scenic walks, etc. Hope this helps!

  7. summer time is best. mid november to april

  8. Like Jem said November through to March would be ideal.

For snorkeling, I would head towards Auckland's west coast and travel up to Tutukaka Harbour (30km from Whangarei) where I would hop aboard one of several charter boats that take people on daily trips out to ‘The Poor Knight Islands' marine reserve. Down south, I would travel to Kaikoura where charter boats often encounter sperm whales, and where you can snorkel with dusky dolphins and fur seals. As for Jellyfish, I don't like the buggers either, and have only encountered them a few times while swimming in the ocean. But trying to predict when they're going to show up is near impossible.

  9. between the months of december and feburary they are the peak seasons for summer.
