I think early December is the best. It's cool and the country celebrate the King's birthday which is the same day as the national day, 5th of December, but the celebration went on 10 days ahead and last a few days after.

The city, most part of bangkok, are putting on flags and colour lamps. I love it just driving around seeing all those neon lights. It usually involving with free outdoor movies, two million food on the street from vendors, and nice weather.

It's the best time to just walk the street of Bangkok. I'm pretty sure, they clear all the protesters by then. I think the government is issuing a theme which called from Mother day to father day (queen to king birthday) as a pretext to stop the street protesters.

I'm sure otherwise the protesters will have a great time sleeping on the street watching the outdoor movies while eating BBQ pock and sticky rice from the street vendors.

What I know is March is a freaking hot month.

any time really ... especially during the Thai new year (Sangkran Festival) in Chiang Mai or anywhere else in Thailand (April 13-15). Thailand is always hot and it has two seasons only a dry season (October - March) and a rainy one (April - September)
