  1. At night, between 11pm and 4 am.

  2. My wife and I went to Ireland last year on our honeymoon, absolutely beautiful!, We went in early May and it was just about perfect timing, things are opening up, but hardly any tourists yet, and it wasn't overly cold. Mind you it is true, it is expensive, but if you hit the B&B's and ask the owners, alot of times they can direct you to another good B&B on your way.

  3. I went for 2 weeks in late spring 2000, just before the change to Euros. The cost has gone up and US money in down in value. For the best prices try the "off" or " shoulder" seasons. Package deals-flight, car, hotel- also save cash. AAA has packages from fully guided to rent a car with B&B-hotel options. Decide well ahead what you want to see and where you want to go.

If you are going to rent a car plan for lots of extra driving time. You will have to drive thru every small town and there really aren't freeways like the US. Most of the roads, even in Dublin, are VERY narrow and most have no shoulder. The 3 days we spent in Dublin we took the bus or cabs. NOT a fun city to drive in even with good maps.

As for you money try to change it to Euros before you go or use a debit card, much better exchange rate. Most money changers state side want a minimum of $1000. Figure to lose at least one third on any currency exchange from dollars to euros. My Visa debit card worked great.

Be ready for chilly wet weather regardless of the time of year. Even high summer is cool, average temp might get to 75 in the daytime and drop below 50 at night. Rain is year round in between sun showers. The weather is very similar to that of North CA, Humboldt county area.

Ireland is a gret place to visit but do your research. There are plenty of websites and manywill send you brochures. Some B&B-hotel booking sites will even send you their catalog with prices, phone numbers-some toll free from the US, and pictures. They are the same books the packages use so don't wait for them to get the books to at the last minute. If I had known I would have the B&B's set up 4-6 months ahead of our trip. The B&B's in Dublin, Cork and major other cities stay full year round.

    Good luck and have fun!!

  4. Ireland is expensive, try to come over at the start of the summer season, and stay in hostels. Food and drink are expensive, in fact everything is expensive. I need to take out a small loan to go down the local pub for one or two.

  5. I am sure it's during the winter months when it rains and the sun never shines.
