When is the cherry blossom festival in japan?

could someone give me specific dates about when the cherry blossom festival begins and ends? and isnt it in tokyo? if it isnt please tell me where it is. i also have a question about mount fuji. if i went to japan during the festival would i be able to climb it or is it only open in the summer? and someone please tell me what the temperature is in the spring

There is no cherry blossom festival per say but rather a bunch of hanami parties - cherry blossom viewing with lots of drinking on blue tarps under the blossoms.

Blooming time varies depending on the weather. Typically it is late March to early April in Tokyo. Cherry blossoms are all over Japan and their blooming time differs ie earlier in the south, later in the north.

As for Fuji, it would not be a good idea to climb it then as it will be freezing cold and covered with snow and ice at that time.

As for temperatures, again it varies. Days may be warm but the evenings quite cool like they were this spring. Pack a sweater for the evenings.

Around Tokyo, you can see the cherry blossom from the lat week of March to the first week of April. You can climb Mt. Fuji in summer.
